Monthly Round Up

April at Landmark: What We’ve Been Up To

A look at the people, conversations and changes that shaped our month — and what it means for your business

April has been one of those months where everything seems to happen at once — and in agriculture, that’s rarely just a coincidence. As the new tax year got underway, the conversation in our office (and no doubt in yours) has centred on one thing more than anything else: Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. But there’s been plenty else besides — webinars, customer stories, and some exciting events on the horizon.

MTD Is Here — and You’re Ready

6 April marked the official arrival of Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self-Assessment (MTD IT) for the first wave of businesses — those with income above £50,000. It’s the biggest change to the UK tax system in decades, and for many farms and rural enterprises, it has understandably been a source of anxiety.
The good news — and we mean this genuinely — is that if you’re a KEYinfinity or KEYPrime customer, you’re in a strong position. Both products received official HMRC recognition for MTD IT earlier this year, meaning they meet the full requirements for digital record-keeping and direct quarterly submissions to HMRC.
If you haven’t yet spoken to us about your MTD setup — or if you’re unsure whether the changes apply to you this year — please do get in touch. Our support team is there exactly for moments like this.

Year-End Done. What Now?

For most farming businesses, the financial year ends in March — which means April brings the dual pressure of closing the books and looking ahead. This month we shared the story of H W Richards, a diversified farm business that found itself wrestling with fragmented systems and manual reconciliations, before switching to KEYinfinity.
What struck us about their experience isn’t just that the software worked — it’s what they were able to do because it worked. Live financial data, accessible anywhere, with budgets they could actually trust. If your year-end has left you feeling like you need a better system for next time, it’s worth having that conversation now — not in February when the pressure is back on.

Webinars and Training — Keeping You Ahead

Mid-April, we ran one of our popular training webinars — a chance for customers to get hands-on guidance without leaving the farm. These sessions are consistently well-attended, and the feedback we get is that people value the practical, no-jargon approach.

Looking Ahead to May — Where You’ll Find Us

As we head into May we’re already looking forward to a busy month out in the industry. Here’s where the team will be:

Scottish Land & Estates Annual Conference — 20th May

We’re delighted to be attending the SLE Annual Conference, one of Scotland’s most important gatherings for land managers, estate professionals and rural businesses. It’s a brilliant opportunity to hear what’s on the minds of people managing land and estates north of the border — and to talk about how our software can take some of the administrative pressure off their plate. If you’re going to be there, please do come and say hello.

IAgSA Training Day

We’ll also be attending an IAgSA (Institute of Agricultural Secretaries and Administrators) training day in May. Landmark has a longstanding relationship with IAgSA. Events like this training day are a reminder of just how important that community is: the farm secretaries and administrators who keep rural businesses running deserve proper professional support, and we’re proud to be part of providing it.

The Bigger Picture

April isn’t just a tax month — it’s the season when the realities of the year ahead start to come into focus. Input costs, crop plans, livestock movements, tenancy agreements. For many of our customers, managing compliance and making confident decisions are becoming inseparable challenges.
Our software range — from KEYinfinity and KEYPrime for accounts, to Geofolia for crop recording and Livestockdata for herd management, through to KEYPrime Property for estate landlords — is designed so that these different threads can be managed with clarity rather than buried under paperwork. Each product is backed by a UK-based support team who understand the sector.
We know there’s no shortage of things demanding attention right now. Our job is to make sure your software isn’t one of them.
